David Blackwood’s epic visual narratives of Newfoundland and Labrador set the stage for an evening of live music with extreme-fiddler Kytami & DJ Desunos, signature cocktails, storytelling, and interactive exhibition tours.
David Blackwood's Black Ice: Prints from Newfoundland showcases many of his iconic works, revealing the richness of Blackwood’s imagination and his working methods. David Blackwood is one of Canada’s leading printmakers and most popular artists. He has been telling stories about Newfoundland in the form of visual narratives for over 30 years. Read more about the exhibition online.
URBANITE has quickly become Victoria's favourite art party. Presented quarterly in conjunction with new exhibitions, URBANITE's celebrate visual art in a fun & approachable atmosphere featuring music, performance, hands-on activities, and custom cocktails. It's like a one-night full immersion course in contemporary art -- with a twist. Come mix with friends, mingle with like-minded individuals and muse on visual art & culture.
Bring your ticket with you to the event, either as a printout or on your smartphone by downloading the Eventbrite App. Buying an advance ticket will expedite you through the line so you can get inside and start enjoying the festivities faster!
Note that only half the tickets are sold in advance, the remainder are available at the door.
Membership benefits: if you're a Gallery Member you get a discount on URBANITE admission, not to mention tons of benefits to be enjoyed throughout the year.

*N.B. All sales final.
More notes on tickets: Tickets are also available for sale at the door. We are pre-selling 200 tickets using online ticket sales here on Eventbrite. During our last event over 500 admissions were sold over the course of the night. More advance tickets may be released dependent on the popularity of this service. Return patrons to this event may notice the ticket prices have increased. Unfortunately because the ticket price has not kept up with the rising cost of the event you are seeing a bigger increase in price all at once, rather than the Canada Postal Service approach of taking it a couple cents at a time. Our goal for this event is to keep it sustainable, and we thank you for continuing to come out and throw down in support of contemporary art.
